Access Foundation
COURSE OUTLINE
This course aims to provide the totally new user with an appreciation of Microsoft Access. The basic features are introduced through a series of practical exercises. Course Duration 6-7 hours depending on students experience.


PRE- REQUISITES:
Keyboard, computer and Windows experience recommended. New Windows users are advised to complete the Windows Foundation Course.


COURSE CONTENT:
Getting started, opening a database, exploring the screen, using the help system. Opening a Table, Creating a new database. Using cue cards and tips. Reading the status bar. Creating a table with the Wizard. Creating a table manually.     Defining fields, Closing and saving tables. Adding, editing and deleting records. Customizing and manipulating databases. Sorting, finding and filtering records.  Working with queries.


OBJECTIVES:
This course aims to provide a general introduction to Databases. After completion students will have the ability to use MS Access for everyday tasks.

Follow on to Access Intermediate, & other application courses.

COURSE OUTLINE
This course follows on from Access Foundation and covers some of the more advanced features of Access. Topics are introduced through a series of practical exercises. Course Duration 6-7 hours depending on student's experience.


PRE- REQUISITES:
A basic understanding of Access. Keyboard, computer and Windows experience recommended. New users are advised to complete the Windows and Access foundation Courses.


COURSE CONTENT: 
Data base design - the relational model. Advanced queries, Using expressions in queries. Working with totals, using the sum operator. Creating update queries. Fields properties and simple forms, Modifying properties, adding fields. Setting data entry properties, creating a user friendly input screen using pull down options etc. Using expressions, Creating reports and mailing labels. Printing reports, reports based on queries. The reports wizard.


OBJECTIVES:
This course aims to provide a fuller introduction to Databases. After completion students will have the ability to utilise Access to carry out everyday tasks.

COURSE OUTLINE
This course follows on from Access Foundation and covers the security and workgroup management concepts within Access. Topics are introduced through a series of practical exercises. Course Duration 6-7 hours depending on student's experience.


PRE-REQUISITES: A basic understanding of Access. Keyboard, computer and Windows experience recommended. New users are advised to complete the Windows and Access foundation Courses.

COURSE CONTENT: 
Secure Data base design - the work group concept. Access in a Network environment. Command line options. Using the workgroup administrator. Database ownership. Optimizing performance and network traffic. Client / Server concepts. Replication. Database encryption. Network overview and creating Network shares. Security Issues users and workgroups.


OBJECTIVES:
This course aims to provide a set of work skills to enable the networking of Access applications. After completion students will have the ability to utilise Access network and security concepts.
